SALE!

My mom is having a sale on all of her in-stock items until Monday. She makes handmade baby blankets, tag blankets, burp clothes, books, and most recently, an item called a "Tummy Soother." A tummy soother is a basically an herbal heat pack for babies. Aubri uses hers in the evenings when she gets a little grouchy.

So, go check out her facebook page and etsy site and use the code 10STITCH at check out to receive 10% off.

If you see something you like on facebook that is not listed on etsy either let me know or message her via facebook and we will list it on etsy.

Here are some of my current favorites:

There is also an album on the facebook page titled "Gift Sets."  A gift set comes with a 36"x44" double flannel blanket, tag blanket, and two matching burp clothes.

And here is Aubri with her favorite tag blanket and matching tummy soother.

And feel free to let me know if you have any questions!

Have a great weekend!

Button's Blankies

Mom and I have been busy making blankies for little Button.  She will not have to worry about getting cold.

This one is the theme of her room.  It's called Merry Meadows. This blanket was hand quilted by Button's Grandma.

We are also making another quilt that will be more of a patchwork quilt.  One of the materials in it will be the material that is on the back of this quilt.  The material on the back of this one is also what we used for the curtains.  Mom hasn't started it yet but I'm excited to see what it will look like.

And then there is Button's flannel blankie collection.  This one is the same theme as her room.  And of course she'll need two tag blankets to match.

This one is a bird print.  The are sort of the same as the birds in the other two.  And she'll have a tag blanket to match.

This one is for when she goes places with daddy.  Daddy likes John Deere so I'm sure Button will too.

She'll have to have a puppy blankie too.

And of course an "I love Mommy. I love Daddy" blankie.

And some fireflies with a matching tag blanket.

She also has a couple of blankies over at Grandma's house for when she is over there.

And a tag blanket for when her daddy goes to drill.

Then we made some matching burp clothes.  I mean what little girl doesn't need a burp cloth to match her blankies?

This is her cloth book collection that her Grandma made for her.  She also has a book that matches the theme of her room.

Spoiled? Yeah, probably.

R.I.P. Allie Marie

My mom's chihuahua, Allie, had to be put down yesterday.

One of her final days

She had an inner ear infection awhile ago.  And got another one this past weekend.  Mom made an emergency call to the vet Sunday.  The medicine they gave her didn't help.

The vet thinks she may have also had a stroke.  She was old, didn't listen was deaf, had arthritis and a crooked leg.  Mom did everything she could to get her better.  But mom, dad, and the vet all thought it would be best to end her suffering.

I wrote a post awhile ago about what turned out to be her final hurrah.

Allie will be missed and never forgotten.

Dear Allie,

I know when mom first got you I was not around.  I forgive you for trying to bite me everytime you saw me for the next four years.  I'm sorry when you were a baby that dad pushed you off the couch you fell of the couch and broke your leg.  (We tease my dad that he pushed her.)

I know we weren't always the best of friends but I will miss you somewhat. I'm glad I got to say good-bye. I know mom & Chloe will miss you and LP too.  Behave in heaven; don't bite anyone.  I'm sure you'll have a nice comfy bed there and really that's all you've ever wanted.

Love,
Steph

Brrrrrrr

I've been pretty craptastic at blogging lately. Mostly because not much has been going on.

I took one final last Thursday. I probably would have got a B in the class even if I didn't show up for the final. I have another final this Thursday. I guess I should probably start studying.

Matt had drill this past weekend. For reason I can't disclose, we are both getting pretty fed up with this Reserves stuff. I guess it's better than taking our chances with IRR but it's a far cry from active duty.

Friday night I started feeling sick. Between Friday night and Sunday morning I took around 20 vitamins trying to boost my immune system and beat the sickness. Sunday I woke up and thought I was going to die.

Saturday night I worked and after work it snowed. Sunday, I called my mom and whined told her I felt like garbage. Mommy and Daddy drove through a blizzard (about 20 miles) to bring me some Vicks, Benedryl (or however you spell it), Kleenex's, chapstick, Vapor Inhaler, more vitamins, chicken broth, and some throat spray. Because you know, I'm not spoiled or anything.

Matt's Commander was threatening to make them all stay over night because the weather was so bad. But, thankfully he got to come home.

I suck at driving when the roads are bad. I'm paranoid as a crackhead about it. I drive like a 90 year old man when there are 3 snowflakes. And my car needs new tires. So needless to say, Matt will be driving me around until the Spring.

I am feeling a little better today. I managed to drag my sorry butt to work. I hate calling in. I'm trying my best to avoid everyone today.

FYI... I'll be posting "Facebook Funnies" Thursday or Friday.

Happy Monday!

Why's it have to be so hot?

Yesterday my boss took myself and the department I spend about half my time working for to the Cardinals vs. Phillies game. This is where are seats were. These are by far the best seats I have ever had at a game, as far as the view goes.

It was so freaking hot yesterday. Not just the itshotandimuncomfortable type of heat. It was like the itssohotthatmybeeriswarmbeforeigetbacktomyseatandimmiserableandsweating likeamoose kind of heat. At one point, I think I could feel my brain boiling. I had to make the switch to water around the third inning. Our seats were in the direct sun all day. At one point, the scoreboard said it was 100 degrees. I'm guessing this was minus the head index and minus the fact that it was exceptionally humidy. And we lost.

The boss took us out to eat on the way home and dinner was good, I think. My brain was still fried at that point.

While I was gone yesterday, the boys had to get their haircut. I brought them to my mom's yesterday morning and she took them to the groomer in the afternoon. Then she brought them back to her house so they could run around the yard and play for awhile. She brought them home around 7 last night. And I got home shortly after that. They were tired last night and Vinnie almost slept all night. Don't they look adorable?

Thanks for taking care of our boys yesterday mom! We all love you.

And I'm not going to lie anymore, I miss Matt. I work tonight so at least I'll get a little bit of human interaction.

Hope you all have a great weekend! I'll be busy working, cuddling with the pups, and finishing my mission list.

IV sedation rocks my world

Friday I had an appointment to get two teeth extracted at 1:00 p.m. Since I'm such a wuss I wanted to be knocked out cold. My daddy took me. He also took me when I got my wisdom teeth cut out five years ago. My mom showed up and her and dad both sat with me while I was heavily under the influence of drugs.

I was given laughing gas and then the nurse poked me about fifteen times before she gave up on finding a vein. The doctor ended up sticking me with a needle to get the IV in. I told mom and dad to quit looking at me and laughed hysterically. Mom asked me where I wanted to pick up my prescriptions at and I laughed hysterically. I told her, "What's it matter? They are giving me drugs." She said they needed to know where to call it into. I laughed some more and told her Walgreens was "slow as f!@#$." Mom had to leave to go back to work and then my dad kept asking me stupid stuff just to make me laugh. I can't remember exactly what though.

I woke up once during the process and told them the left side of my face was numb. The nurse said it was from the shot. I asked how the IV knew to make the left side of my face numb. She said, no that they had given me a shot in the face. That made more sense. Everything was really confusing while I was drugged up.

When I was finally able to leave, Matt took me by the ice cream shop because I had not eaten all day and I was starving. I got a peanut butter milk shake and ate it with a spoon. When we were on our way home, he looked over at me and started laughing. I was like, "What are you laughing at." He said, "You have that shit all over yourself." I looked in the mirror and it was running down not only my chin, but also my neck.

When we got home, I took a nap with the pups. I think they know when I don't feel good because they behave a lot better. Matt made me some mashed potatoes when I woke up.

The rest of the weekend is kind of a blur. I've kept my pain killers close by. Yesterday my parents came over and dad and Matt played in the yard and fixed some stuff on the house. Today, my mouth hardly hurts at all.

Hope you all had a great weekend!

Don't forget that in honor of my 200th post, you can ask me anything you want to. Just click here.

Runaway Dog

My mom has two dogs, one of which is a Chihuahua named Allie. Allie is eleven years old, deaf, has arthritis, is as mean as a rattlesnake and to be honest, I'm not real fond of her. I think that's mutual though. She tried to bite me for the first four years mom had her.

Mom gets off work early on Thursday afternoons. About 1:30 she called me and asked if I went to her house for lunch. I told her I didn't but Matt did. She asked me if Matt saw Allie. I told her I didn't know that she should text him. Apparently, Allie had disappeared.

She looked all over the house and the yard for her but couldn't find her anywhere. Mom had to leave to bring her other dog to the vet. I texted Matt too. He said he didn't remember seeing her. By this point dad was getting off work. So, I
called him and asked him if he had talked to mom. He said he had and that he was going to go get some beer and drive around town and look for Allie.

I was leaving work early anyway to go to the doctor. When I left work I went by mom and dad's. By this time, mom was home and frazzled to say the least. She was upset because she thought Allie could have snuck out when she left for work. Dad said that he figured the chicken hawk that has been hanging around their house probably got her. (Nice one dad)

I cruised around their neighborhood for a little while before
I had to go to the doctor. I honestly thought that she had probably got out of the fence and went and died somewhere. She's not in the best shape and plus she's a weirdo like that. In the mean time, mom and dad and the neighbor kid are all out searching the town looking for her.

When I got back to our house after I went to the doctor, mom called. She said she found Allie. I thought, Oh god, she's dead. I asked her where they found her and she said at the pound.

Apparently, mom called the radio station and had them announce that she was missing. Mom got a few calls from people saying they had seen Allie about 2 miles from their house along a busy highway at 8 that morning. Mom told them that it cou
ldn't have been Allie because she doesn't move that well and couldn't have went that far.

Then a cop called. I guess the cop saw her in the same area that the other sightings occured. He got out of his car and yelled at her and he said she just kept walking. Remember she doesn't listen is deaf. He followed her down the busy highway with his flashers off until she went under a parked semi at some kind of trucking place.

It took the cop and three truckers to get her out from under the semi. In the process, she bit one of them but since she only has two or three teeth she didn't break his skin. They were making fun of her because she's so old. The cop took her to the pound because she didn't have a name tag on.

When mom went to the pound to pick her up the guy at the pound said that he would just let mom get her out of the pen. So, I can only imagine the trouble she caused there.

I'm glad she made it home. The day before her episode I went to mom's for lunch and she was pacing around the table the whole time on the hardwood floor. I didn't want my last words to her to be, "I'm going back to work. You're driving m
e fu!@#$g nuts." And no matter how much her and I dislike each other, I know when she goes to doggy heaven, my mom will be sad. I'm not ready for that yet.
I liked up with Mimi @ Living in France for F-Bomb Friday.

Navy boys and chain length

I didn't get to go shopping this weekend. My husband was well behaved. I would rather him behave than have nice purses anyway.

I had a busy weekend and once again I am glad it is Monday. I worked Friday and Saturday night. Friday night I went out for a little while after work.

See, my seester went to Hawaii on vacation with some of her friends in March. She met a boy. My sister has never been one to need or have a man. This boy is in the Navy and stationed at Pearl Harbor. He came to the middle of the cornfields to see her this weekend. So Friday night I met up with them. Seester never brought this boy over to meet the family and I'm pretty sure mom is upset about that.

He seems like a nice guy and I'm glad I got to meet him. But if he breaks my seester's heart. I'll be making a trip to Hawaii. He did say he doesn't want to get married... ever. I thought all military guys were all about getting married.

Moving on....

Mommy and Daddy put up a chain length fence in our yard this weekend so now Ozzy can start going to the house with me. He is going to love it.

Everything is falling together nicely at our house. We still have a few things to buy but I want to wait till Matt gets home so he can help pick some stuff out. I'll make sure to post some new pictures soon.

Two weeks from tomorrow I get to go to Seattle, possibly for the last time. (Matt will have to sign out in September, not sure if I'll go with him.) It's bittersweet. Sometimes I love it there and other times I hate it there. I will not miss having to "visit" him there. But I will miss the fact that there is always something to do.

Anywho... have a good Monday!!!

Stressed

I am beyond stressed for several reasons. My parents and I are supposed to go to Washington next weekend to see Matt. It is their 30th anniversary and my birthday is next week. They wanted to take a vacation for their anniversary and have never been to see their favorite son-in-law there. Some of Matt's unit is going to Yakima for training on Tuesday. Matt has been told for 3 months that he would not have to go. Yesterday they tell him that he has to go. He threw a fit and hopefully we will find out today if he has to go or not. Grandma is still hanging on by a thread and will die sometime soon. Don't know when. Maybe today, maybe next weekend, maybe next month. So now mom and dad are kinda up in the air about what they should do.

When I booked the flight for the three of us I did not purchase insurance for them because I thought everything will be ok. I highly doubt that American Airlines is gonna give two shits about any of this.

I don't understand why he has to do training. HE IS GETTING OUT. The only thing he needs to train for is how to deal with me on a daily basis and mow the yard and stuff. I doubt he will learn that through the army. So Mr. Big Shot of Matt's unit, you can kiss my big ole butt. I hate you, except for about two minutes on the 1st and 15th.

Oh and also my new phone is a POS. It's an envy 3. Don't get it.

48 and counting

Only 48 more days until the hubs can leave Ft. Lewis and come home to me and our house. Just wanted to share a few pictures of what I have done with our love nest so far.

This is the bedroom, the actual love nest.

This is the living room minus the couches. Mommy and daddy are giving us theirs but not till they get some new stuff. Notice my sexy pink laptop. Thanks honey.

Everything is coming together nicely I think. My brother and I are supposed to bring a bed over tonight for the spare bedroom. Mom and I planted a bunch of stuff in the landscaping over the weekend. I'm getting estimates for the rock in the landscaping... well they were supposed to call me yesterday.

I just know that Matt will love it. I cannot wait to make our house our home.

For my Mommy

My mom asked me the other day what the address is for my blog. I was a bit confused because I didn't know that my mom knew I had a blog or even knew what a blog was. I guess she had used my brothers laptop and found the address in the previous used addresses. She said she didn't know how to find it on any other computers.

So this one is for my mom. I love you and I appreciate everything you have done for me and for matt and I. When you are even older than you are now and even more senile than you are now I will take care of you or atleast make sure that Shelley (seester) does.

I love you Mommy!!!
