Miss Princess

I dropped Miss Princess off to get her hair cut this morning.  She always gets nervous about going.  I'm pretty sure she thinks I'm going to abandon her like the idiot we got her from.

She actually had a panic attack about 2 weeks ago.  We were messing around (not that kind of messing around) outside in the camper.  I had left all the dogs in the house.  The boys snuck out and Princess got left inside.  Then I let her out and she saw that the boys were in the camper.  I think she thought we were going to go camping without her.  For about a half an hour after we came inside, she was in freak-out mode.  Panting, shaking, crying.  I sat next to her and told her how pretty she was and that we'd never leave her.  She eventually calmed down.

Then the other night we had a really bad storm.  Tornado watches, hail, lots of wind, and stuff.  She freaked out again.

So this morning, I told the vets assistant about it.  (She gets groomed at the vets.)  They all know that she has been abused and neglected.  The vet's assistant said that lots of dogs are on medicine to keep them calm.  I'm just not sure that I want to drug her.  Maybe I could give it to her once in awhile if I know something is going to happen that will freak her out.  Anyway, I'm going to talk to the vet when I go pay for her hair-do after work.  My mom is going to pick her up around noon so she doesn't have to be there all day.  She's not spoiled at all.

Miss Princess has struggled with her weight since we got her.  Poor little thing, I can relate.  She got weighed this morning.  She's lost 1.3 pounds.  I guess we're going to have to keep walking so we can both have nice figures this summer.

Weekend recap & Xmas decorations

We had a great Thanksgiving. I ate too much. Although, yesterday I stepped on the scale and it said I didn't gain any weight. Uhhhh, we'll go with that.

My friend makes cakes and stuff on the side and she made this for me to take to my grandparents. It's a turkey made out of cupcakes. Funfetti cupcakes. My favorite. They were awesome.

Here is a group of misfits at grandma's. Bottom - my brother and his girlfriend. Top - the hubs, me, my reester, and her man friend.

Here's the boys enjoying one of the last nice days of the year, most likely. They pretty much act like this all the time outside.

Friday night I worked. It was a descent time.

Saturday I put up the tree and Matt hung up the lights outside. You can find picture of the outside lights and stuff here. They pretty much look the same this year as last.

I did add some new stuff to the tree this year. I got the silver ribbons on it on clearance last year after Christmas for like 2 bucks.

I ordered an ornament for each of the pups a month or so ago.

Here's Ozzy's

And Mr. Ozzy himself

And no, it wasn't easy to get any of them to sit in front of the tree so that I could take a picture.

Sunday we skipped the family thing we were supposed to go to, laid around, and did homework.

Oh and if you recently started following my blog, please leave a comment so I can check your blog out. For some reason, it won't let me go to your blog from my list of followers. Please and thank you.

Hope you all had a great weekend and ate a ton of goodies!

*** "Facebook Funnies" will probably be Thursday or Friday this week. I have some good ones. ***

Happy Hump Day!

I once read somewhere to never apologize for a lack of blogging. So, I won't. I've been busy. And my life has been pretty boring, which could be a good thing.

We had a great time camping this weekend. The weather was beautiful except that it was really windy. Friday night we remained pretty calm. Matt had to work for a couple hours Saturday morning. Saturday afternoon him and his buddy went four-wheeler riding. I stayed at the camper made some soup, roadtripped with my parents and the dogs for a while, and took a nap.

However, Saturday night it might have been on. I may have drank way to much. I may have fallen. I may have went to the chiropractor Monday and found out that I sprained my elbow. It may hurt like a bitch. I may have a few mysterious bruises. Or I may not.

Sunday morning we loaded up and went home. And then slept all day. It felt great to be a bum.

Yesterday was Miss Princess's birthday. I ordered her a camping chair online. It's like a bag chair but with out the back or beer can holder. My mom has one for her dog and Princess pretty much took it over while we were camping.

Besides that things have been pretty mellow. I've been trying to figure out what I'm going to take next semester. I think I have it figured out now though. If I take the right elective for my Associates in Accounting, I will also have a Certificate in Office Technology. And then if I take one more class I'll also have a Certificate in Management. I believe I have 13 classes left and then I'll have all this done. But at this point, I'm 28 29 years old and still considered a freshman. Which is a little depressing in itself.

Anywho, next semester I'm going to try to take three classes, be a wife, work, and sling beers on the side. I'm going to take Managerial Accounting, Legal Environments of Business (blah), and Advanced Formatting. Should be interesting. The good thing is one is online and the other two are at the extension building of the college which is very close to where I work. So no driving 30 minutes to class.

Oh and something else, someone keeps emailing me telling me that they think I'm a talented writer and they want me to write for some blog something or other. I don't buy it. I purposely make grammatical errors and use, commas in the wrong place because it's my blog and I can. And I'm a shitty proofreader. So don't lie to me. :)

Happy Hump Day! Hope you all are having a great week!

My husband's new love

About six months before Matt finished his time doing Active Duty, we started house hunting. One of the things Matt wanted in a house was a big garage or room to build a big garage. We bought our house last June. It had a junk shed in back yard that I don't have a picture of. This past April we made out like bandits on our taxes since we are first time home owners buyers. So we decided to invest our money into building a garage. After a little debating, confusion, drama we decided to have the garage built for us.

This is a picture of where the junk shed was.

Matt dug up all the cinder block from around the concrete, loaded them up, and got rid of them. It was only like 110 out when he was doing that.

Here is a picture of when the concrete was poured.

Here is Matt splicing together the internet line he dug through. Notice the Aerosmith 1998-1999 t-shirt. Classic.

Here is the garage after everything is done. The siding and shingles match our house perfectly.

View from the deck.

My daddy and brother did all the electrical work. It has about 14 plug ins in it. Matt says that you never know what you'll need to plug in. It has plumbing ran for a small bathroom to be put in it. That will have to wait until next summer though along with the insulation. The only thing left to do this year is to expand our fenced in area of the yard. Dad and Matt are going to start that tonight and finish it on Saturday.

Matt's in love with the garage. I hardly ever see him on the weekend. But it is close enough to the house that I can stand on the deck and yell at him when it's time to come in.

And since no picture post from me would be complete without a few pictures of the dogs.....

Well let's see....

This is going to be another random post because that's all that my brain can put together right now.
  • The Cardinals aren't going to the playoffs. I've just now came to terms with that. I'm disappointed to say the least.
  • Matt and I have both been extremely busy with school. He has class on Monday and Wednesday nights until 11. I have class on Thursday nights until 9. So basically we get to see each other in the mornings, Tuesday nights, and the weekend. I'm not trying to complain too much, just saying.
  • Trash night is Wednesday nights, I've been on trash duty. But I forgot last night.
  • All the pups are fine. Princess was in some pain Friday night but was better Saturday. Vinnie came home Saturday morning, hit the ground running, and hasn't slowed down since.
  • Last night Princess was even playing with the boys. She acts like she doesn't like them but deep down I think she does.
  • Just FYI, I have the best dad ever. He's been over three times in the last week working on doing the electric in the garage. My brother has been helping also. He's pretty awesome too.
  • Matt was put in charge of digging between the garage and house to bury the electric line. I called JULIE on Friday to locate where all the lines were. They said they would be there by Tuesday afternoon to check. I failed to tell Matt. He started digging on Saturday and didn't tell me until he came in and asked if the internet was working. It wasn't. He said, "Uht oh." I was like, "What the f-bomb did you do." He said he thought he cut the internet line in half. Yep. Sure enough. But he sliced it back together. And cut his finger in the process. I called him Tim the tool man and made him put his shovel away.
Hope you are all having a great week!

TGIF!

Today I'm having a hard time focusing. Two of the pups are at the vet. Vinnie is getting his testicles removed neutered today and Princess is getting spade and her teeth cleaned. I can pick Princess up tonight but Vinnie has to stay the night. I'm 95% positive that they will both be fine but I still worry about them.

One good thing about this is that we have minimal plans this weekend. The pups will need to be supervised this weekend. Which works out good for me. Matt has a few things to do tomorrow morning and I have to work Sunday morning but besides that my ass I will be doing homework, cleaning house, or lounging on the couch.

I realized last weekend that I haven't had a weekend off since school started. I didn't realize this until I let myself get stressed and worked up. I called my boss at my bar tending job and told her I needed to cut back on working there.

When I first started there, the plan was to work 2 or 3 days a month. I loved it and I loved the customers. This month I was scheduled 7 shifts. That's too many. By Sunday evening, I hated everyone there. I told them to schedule me no more than 4 days a month and that I need at least one, two preferably, weekends off a month.

Anyways, back to the pups. Princess is adjusting well. At first she preferred to be alone. She hung out in the laundry room or garage a lot. She wouldn't sit on the couch or get on the bed. She was scared of the boys.

I bought her some flannel blankets and she will sit on the couch on one. She's been sleeping in bed with us. Sometimes not all night, but at least for awhile. I don't care if she sleeps in bed or not but at least she knows she is welcome. I bought her a new pretty pink bed for the kitchen while we are gone during the day. I wouldn't go as far to say she likes the boys, but she tolerates them. They are a lot to take in.

She's met my parents, brother, and sister. And she's fine with them. She especially like my sister. And she's happy to see us when we come home. She's still skidish and doesn't like loud noises but overall she's adjusting nicely. I can tell she really likes Matt and I.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Meet Princess

Friday a lady a work with told me that her sister-in-law had a dog that they didn't want and needed a home. Her name is Princess. After a little convincing, I talked Matt into letting Princess come over and meet our boys.

We don't really need 3 dogs but she needs a good home. I knew that she wasn't treated great but I had no idea how bad she was treated until later. We decided if they got along that we could keep her. I mean look at how cute she is.

Saturday morning I called the lady who owns her and asked her when she could bring her over. She said that she would bring her over Sunday evening. She told me while I was on the phone with her that she was very timid because her husband has smacked her. WTF? It was then that I decided I didn't care if our boys liked her or not we were keeping her.

She came over last night. At first, she was scared shitless of our boys.

Here are a few things the owner told me about her:
- She's 5
- She was attacked by another dog and almost died
- She thinks she's up to date on her shots
- Her grandson kicks her
- She has spent most of her life in their utility room
- She's not allowed on the furniture
- She eats at 5 AM and 5 PM
- She's fed Ol' Roy

The owner left her. Did not give her a hug or kiss before she left or tell her bye or anything. Just said she was glad she was going to a good home. She left a bed for her and her food bowl. No collar and no toys.

We gave her a bath and she was covered in fleas. I gave her a flea pill too.

Princess is very shy and when I raise my hand to pet her, she thinks I'm going to beat her. I really hope she comes out of it and understands that we will be good parents to her.

She didn't want to leave our utility room.

We let her sit on the couch with us but she would wander back to the utility room. She sat by the front door for a while. I assume she was waiting for the idiot she used to live with to come back. It was so sad.

I tried to put her in bed with us but the boys were barking and raising hell and she wanted no part of it. So I put her in her bed in the utility room. I woke up in the middle of the night and she was laying under my nightstand. Then, I dropped my coaster on the floor and scared the shit out of her. Matt said he woke up and she was laying on the floor on his side of the bed.

This morning she didn't growl at the boys and she ate breakfast with them. I petted her before I left and told her to have a good day. I got a little teary eyed.

I called the vet she has been to today. They said she is 7, not 5, and hasn't been there since 2007. I made an appointment for Saturday morning for her to get her shots and get her toenails trimmed.

I hope she adjusts. I don't think she'll ever need or want a lot of attention, unlike our spoiled rotten boys. But if she does we'll give it to her. It breaks my heart that someone could treat a 10 pound dog the way she was treated or just "get rid" of a dog they have had for 7 years.

**Edit** I forgot to mention that as soon as she needs a haircut, I'm taking her to the doggie day spa for a little pampering.
