Only Child

Chances are Aubria will be our only child.

Matt and I feel like we were extremely lucky to be blessed with her.  She's perfect.  (I know everyone thinks that.)  But she really is.  She was born a 10 on the Apgar (whatever it's called) scale.  We could not have gotten a better child.  There is not one day that goes by that we don't tell her how good she is and how pretty she is.

She gets a little grouchy in the evenings but besides that, we have no problems with her.  Sometimes she sleeps all night.  And she can usually entertain herself, if need be.  She doesn't have to have a special formula or diaper.

We tried to get pregnant for 3 years and had one miscarriage before I was pregnant with Aubri.  Neither one of us want to go through that again.  Also, being pregnant was no walk in the park for either one of us.

Matt and I are 30 years old.  Now granted, we are not 50 and still possibly capable of producing more children but we are no spring chickens.

Not to mention, kids are expensive.  We are doing fine being able to afford everything our sweet baby girl could ever need or want.  Probably even some stuff that she doesn't need or want.  And we want to be able to do exactly that, give her everything she wants.  If we had another child, we might not be able to do that.

I'm not saying that people should only have as many kids as they can afford to spoil, but that's what we are doing.

The problem is that people are always making comments.  "When are you having another kid?"  "Oh, you have to have more."  "She'll want brothers and sisters."

I don't think anyone else is entitled to make that decision for us.

We have talked about it.  We've made up our minds.  We have a perfect little angel to spoil and we are happy with our family.

Now, how do I politely tell people to drop it?

Christmas Recap

Christmas eve I woke up early and made two cheese balls. The recipe said the prep time was 10 minutes. 10 minutes, my ass. More like an hour. It was a mess. I told Matt if anyone complained about them I was throwing them out the patio doors.

After the cheese ball gate 2010, we took a nap. After our nap, we got ready and went to Matt's parents house. The best way for me to have a good time at the in-laws is to drink wine. And drink wine I did. After the gathering at the in-laws, we stopped by my parents. My brother's girlfriend has other places to be Christmas morning so we always exchange gifts with her on Christmas eve.

Christmas morning we woke up and exchanged gifts with each other and the pups. No surprises as far as our gifts went. I got us each new socks and underwear. I bought myself a new day planner. Very exciting. Little Vinnie got some tennis balls and a toy. Ozzy got a blanket and a toy. And Miss Princess got a jacket and a blanket.

Then we went over to my parent's house to open gifts. All 3 pups went with us. I got new dishes, a gas card, and some perfume that I wanted. Matt and I both got Cardinals stocking caps. Matt is wearing his below. Matt got a ton of Menard's cards and a hooded sweatshirt. And a deep fryer.

Then we left all the pups at mom's with her two dogs and went to my uncle's for my dad's side of the family's party. It's always a good time. We got there around 1 pm and began drinking immediately.

Don't worry though, I stuck with beer until around 6.

Drunken bingo started at 3 pm. Everyone always has a good time with bingo. This year my mom and my uncle, who is my godfather, couldn't seem to win a game to save their lives. So they were a little bitter.

This picture is of most of my older cousins and our significant others. Notice the socks Matt is wearing. He won those during drunken bingo. And he bought the reindeer tie as a joke to wear.

This pictures is of my reester and I.

After Christmas at Uncle Loaded's we went to the bar. Needless to say, I didn't make it very long until I went back to mom's. Matt came back there later and we all stayed the night there.

Oh and about the cheese balls, no one bitched. One of my aunts even asked for my recipe.

Sunday we were supposed to go to Matt's mom's family Christmas but we didn't feel well so we went home and took a nap.

I'm taking Thursday off work. I have vacation days to burn. Friday night I believe we are going to have a New Year's get together at our house.

I'm going to wait until after the new year to do another "Facebook Funnies".

Hope you all had a great Christmas and a very Happy New Year!

Oh crapola!

So this morning I was sitting at my desk totally spacing out working really hard. And I remembered something. I asked all of you to ask me questions and I would answer them. Yeah, I totally forgot about this. So this is your last chance. Go ahead ask away and I will not forget to answer them.

Just click here.

My weekend was okay. I worked my second gig Friday night and Sunday morning. I got called in to go help for a couple hours Saturday night, which was no big deal.

Friday I left job #1 early and went home and took a nap because I still had heat exhaustion from the day before or something. I woke up and was getting ready and I went outside to put most of my crap in the car, started it, and turned the AC on. Then I went inside, finished getting ready, and grabbed the rest of my stuff. I went outside only to find that I had locked my keys in my running car, including my house key. I called the cops because, hello I didn't have a phone book on me. The made me feel like a complete idiot and called a towing/unlocking company for me.

I broke into the house with my debit card and found the spare remote starter. I thought, hell ya! I went outside and pushed the button a couple times and it wouldn't work. Someone forgot to tell me that there weren't any batteries it. When I went back outside I closed the door behind me and then I couldn't get back in with my card. So I stood outside and sweated like a moose until dude showed up 20 minutes later. It seriously took him less than 2 minutes to get in my car. Whatever.

Saturday I went to State Farm and got my 75 bucks back. I also had three house keys and a car key made. I also replaced the battery in my remote starter. Never a dull moment I tell you.

Mom, Dad, and my brother came over Saturday and the boys mowed the yard. (Yes, I may be a little bit spoiled.)

That was about it for my weekend. Work, errands, work, clean house, work, nap. Matt will be home soon. :)

Hope you all had a great weekend!

Runaway Dog

My mom has two dogs, one of which is a Chihuahua named Allie. Allie is eleven years old, deaf, has arthritis, is as mean as a rattlesnake and to be honest, I'm not real fond of her. I think that's mutual though. She tried to bite me for the first four years mom had her.

Mom gets off work early on Thursday afternoons. About 1:30 she called me and asked if I went to her house for lunch. I told her I didn't but Matt did. She asked me if Matt saw Allie. I told her I didn't know that she should text him. Apparently, Allie had disappeared.

She looked all over the house and the yard for her but couldn't find her anywhere. Mom had to leave to bring her other dog to the vet. I texted Matt too. He said he didn't remember seeing her. By this point dad was getting off work. So, I
called him and asked him if he had talked to mom. He said he had and that he was going to go get some beer and drive around town and look for Allie.

I was leaving work early anyway to go to the doctor. When I left work I went by mom and dad's. By this time, mom was home and frazzled to say the least. She was upset because she thought Allie could have snuck out when she left for work. Dad said that he figured the chicken hawk that has been hanging around their house probably got her. (Nice one dad)

I cruised around their neighborhood for a little while before
I had to go to the doctor. I honestly thought that she had probably got out of the fence and went and died somewhere. She's not in the best shape and plus she's a weirdo like that. In the mean time, mom and dad and the neighbor kid are all out searching the town looking for her.

When I got back to our house after I went to the doctor, mom called. She said she found Allie. I thought, Oh god, she's dead. I asked her where they found her and she said at the pound.

Apparently, mom called the radio station and had them announce that she was missing. Mom got a few calls from people saying they had seen Allie about 2 miles from their house along a busy highway at 8 that morning. Mom told them that it cou
ldn't have been Allie because she doesn't move that well and couldn't have went that far.

Then a cop called. I guess the cop saw her in the same area that the other sightings occured. He got out of his car and yelled at her and he said she just kept walking. Remember she doesn't listen is deaf. He followed her down the busy highway with his flashers off until she went under a parked semi at some kind of trucking place.

It took the cop and three truckers to get her out from under the semi. In the process, she bit one of them but since she only has two or three teeth she didn't break his skin. They were making fun of her because she's so old. The cop took her to the pound because she didn't have a name tag on.

When mom went to the pound to pick her up the guy at the pound said that he would just let mom get her out of the pen. So, I can only imagine the trouble she caused there.

I'm glad she made it home. The day before her episode I went to mom's for lunch and she was pacing around the table the whole time on the hardwood floor. I didn't want my last words to her to be, "I'm going back to work. You're driving m
e fu!@#$g nuts." And no matter how much her and I dislike each other, I know when she goes to doggy heaven, my mom will be sad. I'm not ready for that yet.
I liked up with Mimi @ Living in France for F-Bomb Friday.

What a weekend!

When I got home Friday from work, little Vinnie had escaped from his pen in the garage and had made himself comfortable in the house. But how can I be mad at this face?

Friday evening we got some stuff done around the house. I finally took all my plants outside and was able to put the furniture back to how we like it. We also fixed little Vinnie's pen so that the little turd can't get out.

I also got some homework done. I can't wait for this semester to be over. I still have 3 test to take, a homework assignment to do, and an assignment to turn in. There is a good possibility that I will get A's in all of my classes so I most likely won't be saying good-bye to my 4.0.

Saturday we had a wedding. We probably stayed out longer than we should have and after dark is a little fuzzy. We had a great time and got to see some of our good friends.

Yesterday we watched the Cardinal's win and did a lot of this:

And today it's back to the grind. Hope you all had a great weekend!

Camping

This past weekend, the hubby and I went camping with my parents, my brother, and his girlfriend. Matt and I both got off work early Friday. He got off earlier than I did and had most of our stuff packed and ready to go when I got home.

Friday night my dad cooked some fish in his dutch oven and I made some cheese dip. I went to bed semi-early. Maybe I should tell you here that, to me, camping means sleeping in a tent. Mom and Dad have a camper and we could have stayed in there but I wanted to "rough it." Well, about 4 in the morning it starts raining. Not just sprinkling either.I just knew the tent was going to start leaking at any time. And it was cold. Too cold to sleep. I pretty much tossed and turn until 7:30 when I heard my dad cooking breakfast.

When I got up there was a puddle outside the tent. It stopped raining early that morning though and then it was beautiful out. Before the ground dried up, Ozzy had a blast playing in the puddles and then jumping on my lap.

Once, it warmed up we went hiking and saw a snake. I hate snakes. Dad and I did some mushroom hunting and found zero. Saturday evening my dad cooked a ham and some taters and mom made green bean casserole and cooked cabbage. I'm not usually a big fan of ham but this stuff was awesome.

We ate ourselves into a coma and took a nap until 8 or so. Then Dad and Matt and I sat around the fire and drank a ton of beer. It was a good time. Yesterday we got home and I did four loads of laundry and laid around on the couch most of the evening. I think Matt and I are going to look into getting a camper. I want a Scamp. They are little hippie campers.

Spring break is over and it's back to class for me tonight. Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Invite Only!

Short version babe short version.... That's what Matt always tells me when I'm trying to tell a story.

Last weekend we were supposed to go to Matt's mom's side of the family Thanksgiving. Well, you see, Matt didn't feel too well because he played too hard the night before. He said he didn't want to go and I didn't argue. His parents weren't going to be there anyway because his mom was marching in some abortion march or something. Who knows. We skipped out.

This Saturday was his dad's side of the family Thanksgiving. We never go to that side of the family anything. Not sure why we just don't.

Well his mom called his phone Saturday and he didn't answer. He didn't even listen to the voicemail till she called both of our phones on Sunday. They wanted us to come over to their house about the time we got the message to eat lunch.

We were in the process of getting my washer and dryer from my mom and dad's. We had plans to have my parents come over and hook them up. Then later, my brother and sister and Matt's buddy from the army that lives about a half an hour away were all coming over. I planned on making homemade pizza and we were going to watch football.

On our way back to our house, washer and dryer in tow, I told him he needed to call his mom. He called and talked to his dad and his dad asked if we were going to be home that afternoon/evening. Matt told them we would. They said they would come over about 3.

I was a little irritated because we already had plans to do the pizza/football thing. They came over and were there about 2 or 3 hours. His dad got a phone call from someone wanting to go hunting with him and his mom told him that they were going to go to a restaurant in town and get some pasta and eat it at our house. Like I'm unable to cook.

This is when I piped up. I told her that we already had plans to have people come over for supper. She got all pissy and said told Matt's dad that they weren't allowed to stay. She put her shoes on right away and then sat and pouted (Matt's word not mine) for another half an hour.

At some point, she asked Matt what he wanted for Christmas. He said he didn't know. So when they left she snatched up her pie she brought over and said, "Well let us know when we can stay longer."

Excuse me, I'll let you know when we don't have plans and you are invited over.

She also said that they probably wouldn't have Christmas since Matt doesn't know what he wants.

This may all seem like I'm a royal bitch but the situation is hard to explain. I don't normally write about how nuts she is or how much she drives me crazy or how if we let her she would try to run our lives for us.

After they left my stomach was in knots because I know she thinks that I'm the reason Matt doesn't want to talk to her. Which, by the way, is her own fault and I'm not going to go there.

I try hard to be nice to her. I really do. But damn it. Sometimes enough is enough and I have to stand up to her.

Thankful

We all know that Thanksgiving is just a few days away so I thought I would do a post about what I am thankful for.

First and foremost, I'm thankful to have my husband HOME and safe for a holiday. Last Thanksgiving we spent in a hotel together in Tacoma, WA. I microwaved our Thanksgiving dinner.

I'm also thankful for my family. Yeah they are nuts but no one has had to be committed to the loony ward yet. My mom, dad, brother, seester, and even the dogs are all nuts but they mean a lot to me.

I'm thankful that he weather has been beautiful here for the last week or so. Its been in the 50s and 60s.

I'm thankful that the semester is almost over. I'll get about a month off of school for Christmas. It will be nice not to have to worry about school for awhile.

I'm thankful that Matt and I are finally getting to enjoy the rewards of having worked so hard for so long.

I'm thankful that Matt and I both have jobs and are able to work.

I'm thankful for our house. Its cute. Its cost efficient. And its ours.

I'm thankful for Tri-Care. I don't think some people in the military know what life is like without it.

I'm thankful for having a four day weekend. :)

Last but not least, I'm thankful that Matt and I will be starting a tradition of decorating for Christmas on the day after Thanksgiving. (No black Friday for this gal.)

Hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Go, go, go

Every weekend since Matt has been home we have had something going on. This weekend we are going to a Cardinals game. Go Cards! Next weekend we have my friends wedding and my Grandpa's 70th birthday party. After that, we have NO plans until Thanksgiving. (I hope)

I am so busy during the week with work, school, scheduling and going to appointments that I just want to be able to relax on the weekend and enjoy being with my husband. So hopefully after next weekend we will be able to do that.

I had my first test last night in my Sociology class. It was worth 100 points with 3 bonus questions worth 2 points each. Guess what I got....... 106. Yep that's right. Doing well in school makes me feel excellent about myself. It really does.

School is definitely not easy and my classes are not a breeze but when I put my mind to it and do the work, its definitely worth it. I have a lot of stuff to do for school before next Monday so I need to get on it. But, I'm taking tonight off from doing any homework. I think I deserve it. And Matt deserves a good home cooked meal too.
