Off to not so good of a start

School started back up yesterday. I was registered for "History and Culture of 3rd World Countries." I need to take a humanity and that would count for one. It appealed to me more than US History or Western Civ. or anything like that. My options for this class were to either take it online or to take it at the other school. (Refer to my fancy map) The other school has some sorta deal worked out with my school to where if their classes don't fill up, students from my school can go there. So I signed up to take it at the other school.

You can see on my map that our house is about half-way between my school and the other school. I always go home after work if my classes don't start till 6 or so, so I figured it wouldn't be a big deal.

Well, I get to the other school, never been there before, and go to room 110 as my schedule says. Room 110 had gurneys with mannequins on them. Obviously, I'm in the wrong room. The teacher tells me to go across the hall. Across the hall is a science lab. Obviously, this isn't my class either. This teacher tells me to go look at the sign by the front door.

Room 105 is where I am to go. Get there, 5 minutes late and am there no more than 5 minutes before I decided this class sucks. It is an American History class. If I wanted to take an American History class, I could have done so at my school.

Also, my school is actually an extention building of my real school. My real school is about 25 minutes north. If I only take classes "off campus", they will delivery my books to my school. I don't take any classes "on campus." (Not that it's that much of a campus to begin with.)

Anyway, this class was supposed to be from 6-9. At 7:30 we got a break. I asked the teacher if he had a book for me. He told me no and that I would have to go to this school's "campus" to get one. (About 40 minutes south). This was the straw that broke the camel's back. I told him forget it. I left at break and went home and immediately dropped the class. I will not be going to anymore classes at the other school.

So when I got home I was scrambling trying to find another class to take. I got everything worked out this morning and I'm going to take a College Algebra class that I need to take anyway. It started last night but I emailed the teacher and she told me to come early Wednesday night and she would get me caught up.

I think from now on I will register for an extra class and drop one to be safe.

Sorry your history class didn't work out. It's good that you were able to get another class. One semester I had to scramble to find a 3 credit hour class. It was awful! Glad it worked out for you!

OH goodness - This sounds like my old school - I wish that colleges were just a tad more organized so that I could find the RIGHT classes and take the RIGHT courses and the CLOSER school and the LOWER price at a CONVENIENT time... ugh. Oy Vey!

Good Luck- sorry you had the run around, glad you were able to find something that works better for you!

I hate registering for classes, it is so stressful and annoying! I hope the ones you keep don't end up sucking even more!
