Aggravation

So, I have a new addiction.  Remember I wrote about the facebook page for "garage sales" in the county we live in.  I wrote about that here.

The only thing I've bought is a new camping chair for Miss Princess.  Well it was actually one of the mushroom chairs (you know the big fold up circle deals) that came with a "footstool".  She's going to use the "footstool" as her new camping throne.

Someone was looking for old Verizon phones awhile back so I sold two of mine for $40.  That was pretty cool.

But I look at the page everyday sometimes more than once.

Anyscavenger, there is something that really aggravates me. People are always putting pets on there that they don't want anymore, can't have anymore, their moving and can't take them with them, ect.  And with no more compassion than they list their old sofa.

I'd love to just post on there, "People, if you can't give 100% to a pet, don't get one."

There was this one pup that the owner "didn't have time for".  It was a Maltese like Ozzy and had "too much energy".  Puppies have a lot of energy.  I can't stand when people buy a cute little dog as an accessory.

I'm sorry if this offends you but it's the truth.  Don't get a pet if you don't plan on taking care of it for the next 10-16 years.

And (in my best Bob Barker voice), have your pet spade or neutered.

I totally agree! I don't always get the we're moving and can't take them with us...I moved cross country with 2 cats. When we move again we'll take the two cats plus the dog we've gotten since then. They are apart of our family...I can't imagine leaving them behind!

I love garage sales.. or estate sales.

Yes pet owners need to love their animals and treat them like they are part of the family.

Sadly blogger is not Facebook so their is no "Like" button but I LIKE this post and I agree 100%! I hate when friends (who I know have no time for them let alone an animal) get dogs or cats and then don't take care of them or pawn them off on a family memeber. It is just sad and really rubs me the wrong way! I love my pet and would never think about giving her up in the same way I would think about taking old shoes to GoodWill!

Agreed!! People need to really understand that animals are living breathing entities. They aren't just a rug or a table that doesn't fit with your decor anymore.

I completely agree! We have similar pages like that here in Korea for the different posts and there are several pets listed everyday. People go get pets here because they are significantly cheaper than purchasing one from a breeder in the states. Then when it comes time to move back stateside they realize how expensive it is to take a pet back and they post it for sale along side furniture and clothing items they don't want anymore. It makes me so sad. We adopted a new fur baby two weeks ago from a Korean shelter who had been abandoned. I hate that he had to go through that, but I'm glad that he is now living with us and getting lots of love and treats. Hopefully those dogs will find new homes with good people who will love them forever. Wow, sorry, I didn't mean to write a whole novel!

Girl I am so right there with you. Before our first PCS 6 years ago my MIL asked what I was going to do with my rabbits when I moved. I was so pissed at her for asking that (and maybe I still am). When I said they were coming with us and they would have their own room in our new house she just sat there in silence. I think that's the first and only time I've heard silence while in that woman's presence. I can't imagine moving without my pets. Or living without them for that matter.

Awww. I completely agree with you. I better not look at any of those then because M would divorce me for bringing all the doggies to come live with me. It's bad enough that I pull over if I see a dog on the side of the street. Most of the time it has a collar on so I can call the owner. A few times, it didn't and we'd have to give it away. I looooove dogs. I hate to see them mistreated and unloved. Makes my heart hurt.

That would piss me off to read the ads for them. I couldn't do it!
